The disciples left, went into the city and found things just as Jesus had told them. So they prepared for their Passover meal – the Last Supper.
The Upper Room no longer exists as it did when Jesus used it to celebrate the first Eucharist ~ His Last Supper. A church was built in the same space where the room used to be, Muslims turned it into a mosque, and now it remains empty.
When evening came, Jesus arrived with the Twelve. While they were reclining at the table eating, he said, “I tell you the truth, one of you will betray me — one who is eating with me.”
They were saddened, and one by one they said to him, “Surely not I?” (Mark 14:16-19)
Surely not I, Lord? How often have I betrayed You? Whatever I have done to the ones I love the least, I have done to You (cf. Matt. 25). O Lord Jesus! Forgive me! Help me learn to love everyone as You love them! Amen, amen!
