Though I walk through my own “valley of the shadow of death”, I shall fear no evil for the Lord is always by my side.
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. (Psalm 23:1)
Between Jericho and Jerusalem is an old Roman road that we take instead of the highway. It leads us through the Valley of the Shadow of Death. How interesting that this Valley is so near to Jerusalem. How interesting that we should pass through it on the way to our celebration of the Last Supper of Jesus.
Lord Jesus, You entered into the Shadow of Death when you ate the Passover meal with Your friends, knowing that tomorrow would bring Death itself, a painful death on a cross. I have pains in my life ~ hurts, wounds, sufferings, trials, difficulties ~ and I want to run from them. Strengthen me to follow in Your footsteps, to walk through my own “Valley of the Shadow of Death” without fearing evil, so that in the end I will walk right into the Light of Resurrection! Amen!
