Nearby, we visit some of the archeological remains of the ancient walls of Jericho …
including this bottom section of a watchtower:
On the seventh day, they got up at daybreak and marched around the city seven times in the same manner, except that on that day they circled the city seven times. The seventh time around, when the priests sounded the trumpet blast, Joshua commanded the people, “Shout! For the LORD has given you the city! The city and all that is in it are to be devoted to the LORD….
When the trumpets sounded, the people shouted, and at the sound of the trumpet, when the people gave a loud shout, the wall collapsed; so every man charged straight in, and they took the city. (Joshua 6:15-20)
I, too, have walls that need to come tumbling down by letting the Lord take over my life more fully. O God, knock down all those walls in me that block You out in any way. I want my life and all that is in it to become completely devoted to You. The question is: what is Your will for my life? Show me! And what fears are holding me back like a wall? The fear that I’ll be given too much responsibility? The fear that I will have to stretch myself beyond my current knowledge and experiences? Oh Lord, give me eyes to see and a heart that understands and a faith that believes in You even when I don’t understand. Amen!
